PROJECT
The restoration and repair of the Tordesillas bridge, including the buttresses and vaults.
CHALLENGE
The client wanted scaffolding that would enable work on the entire area of the bridge, more specifically the lower vaults of the bridge´s spans, buttresses and side walls.
The scaffolding structure needed to allow for alternating one-way traffic on the bridge, guaranteeing a lane with a minimum of 3.5 m in width and a free height of 5 m.
Using the Adapt Multidirectional System, the work was carried out in sections, with a maximum of 3, including suspended work platforms under the bridge´s spans and vaults.
The base of the structure was initially assembled on the sides of the bridge, both upstream and downstream, and then by suspended and inverted segments up to the height of the lower continuous platform.
The width of the platform was less than 9 m. (2.5 m + 4 m + 2.5 m latticed beams)
The scheduled time of execution was 9 to 12 months, starting in December 2019.
The work was completed in August 2020, in yet another challenge met by Metalusa Spain.
