CHALLENGE
To maintain the facade while the rest of the building was demolished and rebuilt.
SOLUTION
Facade containment work is one of the biggest challenges in construction. This type of work is normally carried out in very old buildings to be demolished where only the façade is maintained. These facades are subject to the effect of the wind if they are not supported from another surface.
The Torres Shorflex HD system enables you to provide this support in complete safety.
The main facade walls of this residential building in Lisbon needed to be maintained and, as such, a temporary metallic structure was built to contain these walls. The reason for the partial demolition of the buildings was related to their condition and regulatory requirements.
A SHORFLEX HD metallic support structure of the gantry type was used to contain the walls of the main facades, which was fixed to the reinforced concrete foundations.
In addition to supplying the Shorflex HD system, the Metalusa engineering department monitored the work on a constant basis to ensure the equipment was being used correctly.
The work was carried out by Metalusa’s partner, Grupo ABB – Alexandre Barbosa Borges.
