CHALLENGE
– Adaptation of the structure to the geometry of the building;
– Assembly of the self-supporting structure in order to support the roof;
– The contiguity of the church to the cemetery restricts the layout of the structure to be assembled.
SOLUTION
The provisional roofs of monuments represent one of the biggest challenges to the Adapt Multidirectional system.
The high sensitivity of this type of work always requires the expertise of the engineers entrusted with the job.
In the case of Église Liégeois, the complex layout of the building combined with the fact that it lay adjacent to a cemetery made it difficult to assemble the structure; the ground supports installed for the structure had to take into account the existence of tombs while not neglecting the layout of the building.
The winters are harsh in this region of Belgium and as such the structure of the roof had to take into account the impact of the side winds expected at this time of the year, in addition to resistance to the weight of snow, which is also very common.
